Abandoned Farm by Linda McCoy

This painting is of an abandoned farm in Ohio. It has been vacant for several years, and it didn’t take long for the fields to return to wildflowers. Purple statice, blue cornflowers, yellow dandelions and white Queen Anne’s lace have grown over much of the property. The old farm house windows are boarded up with big sheets of plywood, and during the autumn it looks really spooky. I started this painting mid-summer, then set it aside while I worked on a few other paintings. It looks peaceful to me; quiet, hazy and warm like so many summer days here. Someday the land will be purchased, the old farmhouse torn down like so many others, and a new strip center will take its place, but in the summer of 2011 this is how it looks.

Its like the life of a man.It was born new & magnificent with hope and expectations. The time flies, it has got old and needs care and attention. But the dearest left in search of smth better & new.So it looks like an old man wise & quiet fulfield his life mission but peaceful, hazy and warm at his fall season, dreaming to open its windows to coming back children.
